In preparation for the upcoming Sukan Sarawak 2017 Games that will be held in Kuching from the 14th to 17th of December, a training session was recently held for the Secretariat staff and volunteers for the Sarawak Games 2017 (SukSar) on the operation of the official SukSar website. The training, which was jointly held by the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and SAINS, was held at the SAINS Training Centre in Samarahan to familiarize the participants with the website and how to administer and manage its content. The website, which will be launched soon, will provide the public with the latest information, updates and results on the SukSar Games.
In addition to the website, another system being readied for the Games is the Integrated Games Management System (IGMS). The main modules of the system, which is being implemented in stages, will be completed by the end of November, in time for the Games. It is estimated that the complete system with all modules will be ready in mid 2018. Training for this system will be held at a later date.
According the SAINS CEO, Dr Anderson Tiong, who was present at the training, the IGMS will be used not only for the smooth running and management of the SukSar Games but for the collection and integration of all sports and athlete information in the State. This will allow for better analysis and development of the State’s sporting potential. This is in line with the Chief Minister’s initiative of digital transformation as well as the goal of establishing Sarawak as a sports powerhouse in the nation.
